Vector Fund Management is composed of a dedicated investment team that is devoted to investing the Fund's capital, and an investment committee that is actively involved in the deal sourcing, due diligence and commitment effort. 
 

Barclay A. Phillips (Buck) and Douglas Reed, M.D. serve as Managing Directors.  These managing directors and vice presidents, along with D. Theodore Berghorst, Peter F. Drake, Ph.D., and James L. Foght, Ph.D., constitute the Investment Committee.  Thomas C. Dorn is the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. 
 

Barclay A. Phillips (Buck) is a Managing Director of Vector Fund Management.  Prior to joining Vector in November 1999, Mr. Phillips served as a Director of Private Placements and Biotechnology Analyst for INVESCO Funds Group, Inc.  Mr. Phillips was responsible for all aspects of INVESCO Fund Group's private equity effort, which focused primarily on the health care industry.  Prior to joining INVESCO Funds Group in 1991, Mr. Phillips held positions in trading and sales with Paine Weber, Inc. and Shearson Lehman Hutton, Inc., respectively.  Mr. Phillips has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado in Boulder. 
 

Douglas Reed, M.D. is a Managing Director of Vector Fund Management. 
Dr. Reed has eight years of venture investment experience with the firm S.R. One, Limited.  S.R. One is a $150 million fund focused on investments in biopharmaceuticals and the life sciences, and is affiliated with SmithKline Beecham.  Dr. Reed also has significant operational experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.  He has held senior management positions in corporate development at two biopharmaceutical firms, NPS Pharmaceuticals and GelTex Pharmaceuticals.  Dr. Reed received his B.A. in biology and M.D. from the University of Missouri.  His M.B.A. was earned from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  He is Board Certified as a neuro-radiologist and has held positions on the faculty at the University of Washington and at Yale University in the Department of Radiology.
 

D. Theodore Berghorst is a Managing Director and Group Head of Prudential Vector Healthcare Group (PVHG).  Prior to the acquisition of Vector Securities International, Inc. by PVHG in July 1999, Mr. Berghorst was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Vector Securities International, Inc.  Prior to co-founding Vector Securities International, Inc., Mr. Berghorst was the Managing Director and Co-Head of the Life Sciences/Medical Products Industry Specialty Group within the Corporate Finance Department of Kidder, Peabody where he directed the firm's worldwide resources with respect to the emerging life sciences industry.  Mr. Berghorst earned his B.B.A. Degree from the University of Michigan and his M.B.A. degree from Northwestern University. 
 

Peter F. Drake, Ph.D. is a Managing Director of Prudential Vector Healthcare Group (PVHG).  Prior to the acquisition of Vector Securities International, Inc. by PVHG in July 1999, Dr. Drake was an Executive Vice President and a Biotechnology Analyst of Vector Securities International, Inc.  Prior to co-founding Vector Securities International, Inc., Dr. Drake was the Director of Kidder, Peabody's Healthcare Equity Research Group which encompassed coverage of the pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, hospital management and hospital supply industries. Dr. Drake received his B.A. from Bowdoin College and his Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Biochemistry from Bryn Mawr College.  Dr. Drake was a Senior Research Associate at Case Western Reserve University Medical School.  He also received a C.B.A. from the Wharton Business School. Dr.  Drake is on the Board of Directors of the David Mahoney Institute of Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania; the Spears, Benzak, Solomon & Farrell Biotechnology Fund; Bowdoin College; the Lake Forest Hospital Foundation and the Trustmark Insurance Company. 
 

James L. Foght, Ph.D. is a Managing Director of Prudential Vector Healthcare Group (PVHG).  Prior to the acquisition of Vector Securities International, Inc. by PVHG in July 1999, Dr. Foght was the President of Vector Securities International, Inc.  Prior to co-founding Vector Securities International, Inc., Dr. Foght was Senior Vice President and Co-Head of Kidder, Peabody's Life Sciences/Medical Products Industry Specialty Group.  Dr. Foght was with E.I. du Pont de Nemours for twenty-three years in research and management. He was Managing Director of Du Pont UK and had responsibility for planning and implementation of a de novo pharmaceutical business in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.  He also established a worldwide Technology Evaluation and Acquisition Group for Du Pont.  Dr. Foght earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Illinois and holds a B.S. from the University of Akron.  He holds a number of advisory positions including being a member of the Advisory Board for Korda Seed Fund, a Trustee for the University of Akron, a member of the Science Advisory Council for the University of Akron and Advisor to the Department of Chemistry for the University of Illinois.  Dr. Foght is also a Director of Cambridge Antibody Technology Ltd. 
 

Mark D. Flower is the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Vector Fund Management.  Mr. Flower joined Vector in May 1999.  After a senior auditing position with Arthur Andersen in Chicago, Mr. Flower held senior accounting, finance, controller and CFO positions with Kemper Asset Management, Kemper Financial Services and Iowa Grain Company.  Mr. Flower earned a B.B.A. degree in Accounting and Finance from the the University of Wisconsin and his C.P.A. designation from the State of Illinois .
